A hardwood, possibly walnut, Folk Art carved horse. Worked in the style of Pennsylvania carver Peter Brubacher. Nicely detailed, with the head, neck, and body made from one piece of wood, and the legs carved separately and mortised into the body. It is in very good condition and retains the original paint, leather bridle, ears, and horsehair tail with a very few nicks and dings to the body. The work is unsigned, from Pennsylvania, and dates to the later part of the 19th century.
