25-146. American 19th Century. Gouache on wafers of natural material. Depicting a husband and wife. Her attire consists of her hair up in a comb with cascading ringlets, red coral drop earrings, a red coral necklace, and a blue dress with puffy sleeves, lace, and a gold buckle. His attire consists of his curly hair, with a high-collared shirt, a black tie, a printed vest, and a brown jacket with gold buttons. Each in matching black lacquered frames measuring 5.5"h. 4.75"w. Both are in very good condition and date from the early to mid-19th century. Provenance: from the Lifetime Collection of Janet & Charles Muto, Ottawa Hills, Ohio.
